Who is Millan Atam?

A Pan-African with interest in a wide variety of areas including social justice and the economic development of Africa. With a humanitarian and development background, Millan has worked extensively across the African continent and beyond, largely with International NGOs, the UN and most recently as an independent Consultant. He has taken up assignments in:


  1. D.R. Congo, 
  2. South Sudan, 
  3. Uganda, 
  4. Swaziland, 
  5. Cameroon, 
  6. South Africa,
  7. Sudan
  8. Nigeria and
  9. Namibia 
  10. Central African Republic


But he has also carried out short missions in Senegal, the Gambia, Lesotho, Zambia, Angola, Tanzania and Haiti. He was the UN Coordinator for Disaster Support for the UN in Namibia and before that Assessment Coordinator for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Haiti after the earthquake and during the cholera outbreak.


He is presently Managing Director of Gravitazz Consulting with offices in Namibia and South Africa focusing particularly on Disaster Reduction and Emergency Management across the African continent. Gravitazz South Africa is currently organising the Africa Conference on Land Grabs in partnership with the Pan-African Parliament and a number of other key players. Millan holds a Master of Arts in Forced Migration Studies and a Masters in Public and Development Management (MM-P&DM) from the School of Governance - University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
